Park Management Partnerships: Three case studies from Africa
2019
This publication presents case studies of public-private partnerships for the management and promotion of tourism activities in three African national parks: Kruger and Table Mountain in South Africa, and Akagera, in Rwanda. In each case, we sought to understand, in addition to the characteristics of each park, the model of public-private partnership implemented, detailing, whenever possible, the scope of the current contracts, duration, the nature of the private partners, methodology adopted for its selection, the level of investment required, financial sustainability, risk allocation, governance and oversight mechanisms, the impact on nature conservation, and the generation of opportunities for local communities.
