Parks as Vectors of Development for Brazil
2021
Brazilian natural parks could receive four times more visitors, which could take nature tourism up to BRL 44 billion in the country’s GDP and generate up to one million jobs. The following are some of this study’s conclusions.
Based on statistical data and analysis of the national scenario of park visitations and on success stories in other countries, the study pooled the main obstacles to be overcome and indicated 12 national and regional levers that could convert all this still underutilized potential into more benefits for society. Some proposed solutions include an aligned common vision, a national tourism brand, and a certification for best practices.
Lastly, the study lays out a map of the stakeholders that should be involved, listing actors from the public sector, private companies, and civil society.
