Guidelines for Tourism Partnerships and Concessions in Protected Areas

Comprehensive and profound guidelines that draw on accumulated experiences in countries with greater maturity and can make a significant contribution to strengthening the role of partnerships as drivers of public policy in Brazil, creating conditions for Brazilian parks to increasingly fulfill their purpose of promoters of conservation and socio-economic development.

Portuguese version for “Guidelines for Tourism Partnerships and Concessions in Protected Areas: Generating Sustainable Revenue for Conservation and Development”, presents principles and processes for establishing partnerships and concessions for tourism as well as best practices for contract management and performance monitoring.

*This publication is part of a project called “Tourism partnerships and concessions in protected areas: Cooperating for success,” which was carried out on behalf of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) by the Group of Experts on Tourism and Protected Areas. (TAPAS Group) of the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The German Ministry of the Environment and the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Bio-Bridge Initiative funded the initiative.
