Editorial Essay: COVID-19 and Protected and Conserved Areas

Based on an analysis of the impacts and challenges that protected areas must face during the crisis generated by the coronavirus, this Editorial Essay presents how these spaces can act as part of a global response to the pandemic and launches a call for society as a whole to act for the recovery and expansion of protected areas worldwide. This material is a translation of an article signed by several experts from around the world initially published in the International Journal of Protected Areas and Conservation (Parks Journal). The translated version was launched based on a partnership between Semeia and the Coalizão Pró-UC (Pro-Conservation Units Coalition).
