Brazilian Parks: Public Perceptions
2018
How much do Brazilians think about Brazil’s parks and all the topics related to them? What is the population’s knowledge and experience of the parks? What is the perception of the management models (public vs. private) of parks?
To answer these questions, Semeia conducted an opinion survey in six metropolitan regions of the country.
The study revealed that the debate on parks in general (urban parks in particular) has relevance, and demands a more significant space in the public agenda’s discussion. With daily presence and impacts on the lives of the population, these issues need to develop concurrently with other urgent programs, such as health and safety. The parks represent to the population the face of public sector that deals not only with problems and needs but which is concerned with its citizens’ leisure, fruition, and well-being.
