Applicable Management Models to the Brazilian Protected Areas

2014

This study was designed to map and analyze the institutional models available in Brazil for application in protected areas, identifying strengths and weaknesses of each alternative, in addition to critical aspects and main obstacles for its use.

In the study, we frame preliminarily different state management models, direct and indirect, and also non-state management models, such as partnerships with third sector structures, and concession models (concessions that offer quality utilities and services to citizens and concessions involving the transfer or granting of a right to third parties, which are not obliged, in principle, to provide a service or utility as an “exchange” for the right received).
